INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION JUNE 21ST 2020

                       INTERNATIONAL DAY OF TOGA CELEBRATION


                                                            
    
 At Anandadham from the International Day of Yoga was celebrated with very few people.The programme started at 6.30 a.m and continued till to8.15 a.m. It started with Shantipath and Aikyamantra followed by Gita chanting. SriSudhakarji delivered the introductory speech on the importance of celebrating this Yoga day.There was was samuhika yoga practice  following the IDY protocol of  2020  by all the 16 participants gathered , abiding by the precautionery measures of the Covid 19 . Yoga geet followed by Mananneeya Lakshmi Didi's speech on the relevance of the day, were the next items.  After the speech, aoth or sankalpa taking concluding with Shanti Mantra. Breakfast was sponsored by Sri Joshiji, Samparka Pramukh of VKVVF.
Online  LIVE programme in Malayalam was telecast from 6.45 a.m for the whole of Kerala Vibhag and others all over India who preferred Malayalam as the language medium . Many people followed the live programme  In Thiruvananthapuram 11 people participated , In Punnakulam  24,In Pathanamthitta:25,In Chennai 260 (effort of Sri Satish Y.C.C), In Thrissur district, at many places of 
  • Kodungallur:namely ,in Kara: 25 people participated,in Valsalayam: 21,Edavilangu at 2 places: 2 teams totaling 30 people and at Pallinada 15 people participated. At Irinjalakuda, Chalakudy and Kunnamkulam, total  20 people followed  the programme and in  Thrissur  25 people participated . All of the above participents performed along with their family or neighbours.So total number was 456 .Other than these people nearly 150 others  watched it online. .

Yoga Satras by YCC students






Out of 10 YCC students who have completed the six months non-residential course under Vk Kodungallur and V.K.Kanyakumari, 5 of them -Smt Anitha, Smt shaila,Sri Vighnesh, Smt Silja and Smt Sheela have been able to conduct classes. Vignesh and Anitha have successfully completed. Sri Vighnesh, Sheela and Anitha are from Edavilangu village. Their long term goal is to transform the whole of Edavilangu into a Yoga Village. 

A strong Sampark sthan we will be able to build up in this area. First batch YCC students Smt Jayalakshmi and Smt Suja (who is also the Saha Yoga Varga Pramukh) are also from the same area and are coordinating the yoga related activities. As for all round assistance and guidance our very close welwishers Smt Mridula Chechi and Sri Anilji and family who also stay near by. Smt Silja and Shaila are from Triprayar area. They both have successfully completed one satra each and have started the second satra. Sri Harish will be conducting the satras in Ettumanoor and Kottayam area.

Thus vistar work is taking place gradually and in a well planned way.

YOGA SANGAMAM





            

Yoga sangamam organised by Vivekananda Kendra Vedic Vision Foundation as a preamble to International Yoga Day  celebrations. As scheduled the Program started at sharp 6 am under the presidentship of Man Lakshmi Didi. The Chief Guest of the programme was Yogacharya Sri Narayanji from Perumbavoor. Maj Gen. Dr. Vivekanandanji was also present to give his blessings.
The programme started with invocation  followed by presidential address by Lakshmi Didi. In her address she highlighted the significance of yoga in day today life. Yogacharya Narayanji spoke on the need to practice 'Tapas' and  swadhyaya which are very essential for on to attain the spiritual benefits of Yoga. He made an appeal to all who were present at the function to do swadhyaya to reap the rich benefits of Yogic practices.
Samuhika surya namaskar programme came next and the baton was changed to the hands of Sri Joshi who handled it with ease in guiding the participants to smooth performance of Suryanamaskar. Sri Premnath, the Chief Coordinator gave the vote of Thanks.
The programme concluded with sankalpa and shanti mantra. Two hundred and forty participants took part.

SNEHA MILAN

Yoga varga and yoga satra leaders of Sringapuram-Anandadham, Keraliswarapuram, Anjepalam and Moothakunnam decided that from 5th November onwards, every Monday they all would gather at Andadham campus for Samuhika Surya Namaskar.
On 5th morning (Monday) at 6.a.m. Sixty one  practitioners gathered  at Anandadham's Sishuvihar Vrindavanam for Samuhik Surya Namaskar. After this Ma.Didi spoke to the practitioners. She told them that each of to    them should become the messengers of positive thoughts,by regular practising of this discipline called Yoga. Their lives could be examples to attract more and more seekers of this path of peace and wellbeing. One's health is always in one's hand  and Yoga is like a 'Kamadhenu' which provides whatever one asks for  -she said.
 It was a good start and need to be continued, all felt so.

QCI COACHING CLASS


14th July was the day for registration for  participants for the QCI coaching class. 16 students registered . The syllubus and other requirements were briefed to the students by Sri Sudhakarji.Formal inauguration of the class was on 21st July in the presence of Mananeeya Lakshmi Didi. 5 more students registered so that the total number camewent up  to 21. Classes have been fixed on every Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Resource persons will be from among the Kendra inmates and welwishers in Kodungallur.

YOGA SAPTAHA

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION
( From 21st June to 27th June  2018)

"Expansion is Life, Contraction is death" says Swami Vivekananda. It is an expansion of our yoga activities that marked our year’s International Yoga Day.

This year we could take yoga to every nook and corner of Kodungallur and bring its multifarious benefits to the grasp of common man and woman and urge them to take it up as their daily routine. As our honorable Prime Minister reiterates it would be a journey from illness to wellness. By expanding our yoga activities we are also paying our homage to the founder of Vivekananda Kendra, Mananeeya Eknathji whose vision way back in 1972, had made yoga the core of Vivekananda Kendra.

As in the last 3 years, this year also Vivekananda Kendra decided to have a yoga Saptaha to do full justice to the ideals of our great teachers. Our activities extended from 21st to 27th June.

On the 21st morning there was a mass yoga practice at Anandadham from 7 a.m. to 8.30 a.m. The programme started with the lighting of lamp by Man. Lakshmi Didi. She addressed the participants highlighting the role of yoga at individual, and cosmic level and requested all the participants to make yoga as part of their day to day life. The participants were Yoga Varga and Yoga Satra members, Yoga Certificate Course participants and school girls of the XII class of Govt. Girls Higher Sec. School Kodungallur. A total of 110 participants were present in spite of heavy rain. The programme ended with shanti mantra.

On the same day 10.30 to 11 a.m. one of the YCC students Dr. Midhun, conducted a class for the students Sisu Vidyaposhini School, Eriyad on this occasion of IYD. At the same time Smt Jayalakshmi conducted classes for the Saraswathi Vidya Niketan, Edavilangu students and their parents and teachers, and also conducted classes for students of Ala UP school and  two schools in Poya. Smt Seeba was invited to conduct yoga session for Nehru Yuva Kendra at Karumathra.

Ma. Lakshmi Didi and Sri Sudhakarji were invited on this occasion to talk on Yoga, in Sri Sai Vidyapeetham, Anthikad, Thrissur. In the evening at Kovilakath Village and  Matru Samiti at Shiva Kshetram, Thiruvallor, Smt Jayalakshmi had conducted a class for the mothers, and their children.She introduced the term Yoga for the first time to the mothers in Thiruvallor.

Smt Suja Nair, Y.C.C student had her concluding function of 10 days Yoga Satra at Palackal, Thrissur. On the occasion of I Y Day, she had invited the relatives and friends of the satra participants.

On the 22nd, 23rd and 25th advanced Yogasana competitions were held at Anandadham for various age groups of students in three batches including LP,UP and H.S students. 75 students from 8 different schools participated.
On the same days during the evening hours, concluding sessions of 10 to 13 days yoga Satra  conducted by Yoga Certificate Course students were held.

On the 24th morning there was a meet for the aspiring students willing to prepare for QCI examination of Ayush ministry, Govt of India, who would look for guidance from Vivekananda Kendra,

On the 27th at the concluding function many yoga practitioner trained by the YCC students, the prize winning students with their guardians, yoga varga members  all gathered in Panicker's Hall, West Nada ,Kodungallur,to participate  in the celebration.Apart from prize distribution, there was also the felicitation of our YCC students who had successfully completed their course under our headquarters  Kanyakumari’s  Certificate Course. Each YCC student was felicitated by Ma. Lakshmi Didi with a lighted lamp,a book and a shawl or ponnada. The Chief guest of the programme was Sri Narayana Bhattathiri, a well versed Sanskrit scholar and former Acharya of Vivekananda University at Belur Math.Dr Panicker and his wife, the owners of the Paniker's hall, also graced the occasion with their presence . Each of the prize winners of yogasana competition demonstrated a few asanas before the prize distribution. 

HDPY Sen.Sec. School, Andipillikavu,with the highest points in the yogasana competitions received the shield. The Principal and Manager of the school were also present to receive the shield from the hands of Didi and Dr Panicker.A total of 120 people were present .

YOGA FOR STRESS MANAGEMENT

The National Productivity Council, Guwahati (Under Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt of India), invited Vivekananda Kendra to conduct a class on Stress Management for the employees of OIL( Duliajan), during a five-day workshop held in Kochi from 9th to 14th July.

On 11th July Sushree Lalitha in charge of Vivekananda Kendra's Thiruvananthapuram branch and Su. Sutapa from VK Vedic Vision Foundation Kodungallur together conducted a Stress Mgt class for an hour and a half for 23 OIL employees from 11 a.m to 12.30 noon.

Su. Lalitha explained the main reason for stress and its remedy while Su.Sutapa conducted the practice session. The feedback after the class was very encouraging.All the OIL employees promised to contact the local branches of Vivekananda Kendra at Duliajan, Assam.

YOGA SANGAMAM FOR LADIES

YOGA SANGAMAM- 10TH JUNE 


At 10.30 a.m.Yoga Sangamam for ladies started at 10:30 a.m on June 10th and was conducted by Sri Sudhakarji.The topic was OM kar dhyana, its benefits, and method of practice.After a brief theory for a clear understanding of the word 'dhyana' or meditation which he termed as an unbroken flow of knowledge of the object on which one meditates and by constant practice leads to self-realization, the goal of every human being. The benefits of regular meditation are improved concentration, increased memory power, emotional equipoise, and higher creativity. Lastly, the method or steps of Omkar Dhyana was explained and demonstrated. After the theory, Sudhakarji conducted the dhyana class. Twelve ladies from 2016-17 Yoga Varga batches were present for the Sangamam. The class concluded at 12 noon with Shanti mantra.

KENDRA PARICHAY SHIBIR

KENDRA PARICHAY SHIBIR


The ladies Yoga Varga team of 11 members participated in a 2 day Kendra Parichaya Shibir from 12th May to 14th May at the headquarters of Vivekananda Kendra at Kanyakumari. The uniqueness of the team was that all the members were simple housewives.The others included one from the Samskar Varga team and the 3 others who were the children of the participants.So a total of 15 members took part.Su Sutapa accompanied them.

For the first time, they were exposed to such an environment and some were even traveling for the first time. For all, it was their first visit to Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari. Fortunately, Yoga Shiksha Shibir was being conducted during that time in the campus, hence it was an opportunity for them to interact with the YSS group and attend along with them the morning prayers, bhojan and evening bhajan. Dakshin Pranth Sanghatak Su.Radha Didi was with the group giving them all the support required.

On the first day, it was only Ramayana Darshanam and then rest. On the second day, they followed the daily schedule of the YSS participants up to breakfast. A one-hour morning session was by the Office Secretary Sri Raghuji.He spoke on Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra. After a short tea break, they were taken for the campus visit. They visited Gramodaya Park where Sri Ramakrishnanji, office -in -charge, briefed them about the multiferous activities of NARDEP, a quick visit to ARISE AWAKE exhibition and then back to PRASAD, for bhojan. After noon, they were taken to the Rock Memorial. After return from Rock and in the Night assembly they put up a beautiful yoga demonstration with music. The YSS participants, other members of Kendra, were all present to witness and appreciated their performance.

On the third day, after attending morning prayer, they were taken to the beach to enjoy the sunrise.After breakfast, there were two sessions, one by Su.Radha Didi on 'the need to associate with an organization for self-unfoldment' and the second session by Ma. Balakrishnanji. The value of yagna as part of life was the topic on which he stressed. An introduction with Ma.Nivedita Didi and Ma.Bhanuji and lastly a concluding session was kept, by Su.Radha Didi, where each of them expressed their opinions about the camp.In the evening they were taken to Gangotri and Wandering Monk exhibitions and finally to Bhagavathi Amma's temple to watch the 1008 Deepa Puja conducted by the workers of RDP.Five of them took part in the Deepa Puja too.

On 15th May, when all of them boarded the train for their return journey, all of them had no words to describe this unique shibir except for uttering that these were the most memorable days of their lives, thanks to the Vivekananda Kendra members!

YOGA SANGAMAM II

Yoga Sangamam

The monthly yoga sangamam for ladies which was started on 18th February, was scheduled on 18th March, Saturday. 17 yoga Varga lady participants (from the 2015 to 2017 batches), were present. Sri Sudhakarji conducted the theory as well as practical classes. The topic of this class was Cyclic Meditation.

Sri Sudhakarji explained to them the reasons for today's tension and stresses and how they could gradually develop on body-mind awareness through this unique technique called Cyclic meditation and get rid of their deep-rooted stresses and tensions.

Each participant narrated her experiences after the practical was over. Thus Yoga sangamam will not help them to gain knowledge but also make them practically realize their bodily imbalances. The class started at 3.30pm and concluded at 5p.m.



Swantanam - March 


Swantanam program for the month of March started with Man. Lakshmi Didi introducing the speaker of the day Dr. Lakshmi Kutty who is a staunch devotee of Swami Vivekananda and whose Ph.d., thesis itself is on Swami Vivekananda's Integral Humanism.

Prof. Lakshmi Kutty in her own indomitable style, taking a leaf from her own lives experiences shared how one should keep oneself busy in doing something constructive and creative, that takes them closer to divinity. Life is an opportunity to become one with the vision of cosmic consciousness. All the members were happy to receive the message as though they are in a gurukula. The class ended with prayer.
