Atma Vikas Shibir ( Narendra) - Day 1

A  seven days Atma-Vikas Shibir for classes 7th. 8th  and 9th class students, was conducted at Anandadham from 25th April to 1st May. 24 students from different schools in and around Kodungallur, registered their names.Mananeeya Lakshmi Didi inaugurated the Shibir, with the lighting of the lamp on 25th morning.

The theme of the camp was ' storytelling and its experience'. The daily schedule of the camp was from 9a.m to 5.15 p.m,  which included Vedic chants, patriotic songs in Hindi and Malayalam, one theory session, yoga, creativity and Krida yoga. There were 8 people in the organizing team.

The students were grouped into four, each group having a group leader from the organizing team. Daily duties were allotted to each group so that the camp could run smoothly and the students could get the experience of or  Shramanubhav with full responsibility.

Atma Vikas Shibir at Kovilakath Dharma Sabha

With the start of Summer Vacation, there is demand from a different organization in and around Kodungallur, for PDCs or Atma-Vikas Shibirs to be conducted by Vivekananda Kendra.
From 2nd April to 4th April a three-days non-residential Shibir was conducted in the Tripurasundari temple premises of Kovilakath Dharma Sabha, Edavilangu. Shibir started from 9 a.m.46 children from classes III to class X registered. Smt Padmaja, Yoga Varga member, conducted the Shibir. Sri Tarun from Mysore Kendra center and Kum.Drishya and Kum Anushree ( SamskarVarga leaders) together conducted games and Yoga classes.Professor Vijayalakshmi, a regular visitor of Swadhyaya class conducted the crafts class. Smt Padmaja told them stories on 'confidence ' and 'concentration' from the life of Swamiji and from Mahabharata. YCC students Smt Suja and Smt Sajitha spoke to the children on Personality development and  Indian Culture, on the first two days of the camp. On the concluding day, there was a drama competition based on the stories told in the last two days and a quiz on all the different things they had learned in the camp.
Mananeeya Lakshmi Didi and Smt Simji Ajithan(Ward Counceller) were invited as guests for the concluding function. The children put up a short sweet programme.Tokens of appreciation were given to each child by Didi.

TWO DAYS RESIDENTIAL CAMP FOR YCC STUDENTS

Students of Yoga Certificate course in Malayalam under Kanyakumari Centre were invited to a two-day residential camp to get accustomed to the regular routine of the Kendra Shibirs. The camp started from Bhajan Sandhya on Friday evening and concluded on Sunday evening. Su Radha Didi- Dakshin Pranta Sanghatak and Sri Raghuji- Office Secretary, Central Office Kanyakumari, were there to guide the students on the Kendra activities and Kendra Karya Paddhaties, challenges and their responses etc. 

Swami Veerabhadranandaji, of Sri Ramarishna Math, Haripad, gave insights into the Raja Yoga of Swami Vivekananda. This is a bonus to all the students as they didnt expect to hear Swamiji.  He was the Chief Guest for Swamijis Jayanthi celebrations at Kodungallur.

At the concluding programme, the students expressed their feedbacks in front of Su. Radha Didi regarding their experience in Yoga Sastra Sangamam and also in the two days residential camp.


SAMARTHA BHARATH PARVA AND SWAMIJI JAYANTHI

A pradakshina around the campus of Anandadham was arranged on the 155th birth anniversary of Swamiji. Sandeepani Sishuvihar children, their parents, teachers and the inmates of Anandadham took part. This was followed by speeches on Swamiji by the tiny tots, a short talk by Mananeeya Didi and pusparchana. Prasada distribution followed after the children's programme.
On the same day, powerpoint presentation of Samartha Bharathb Parva was done in two schools MES Asmabi School and Sri Sai Vidya Bhavan in P.Vemballur. 100 students of class VIII attended. Yoga Certificate Course students conducted the ppt programme. To test their grasping capacities, students were asked questions based on the ppt. Those who answered confidently received Swamiji's books as prizes.


Swami Vivekananda Jayanthi Celebration

Patriotic and folk group song competitions were conducted in Anandadham, on 17th and 18th January. 14 schools and a total of 80 students participated.

Samuhika Surya Namaskar competition was held in the same campus on 19th January. The students demonstrated 6 rounds of Surya Namaskar in groups of 12 each. Boys and girls groups were separate. 6 schools, totaling 142 students participated. The creative skills of each group were beautifully projected. Each school performed the same steps in different formations, It was a real treat to the eyes.




The 155th birth anniversary was celebrated at Anandadham, on 21st January, Sunday. Srimad Swami Veerabhadranandaji Maharaj, head of the Haripad Ramakrishna Math center, was the Chief Guest. 200 people attended.

The programme started with a song on Swamiji by Kum. Sree Lakshmi, who conducts Samskarvarga on every Sunday at Anandadham. Mananeeya Didi welcomed the Chief Guest. Swami Veerabhadranandaji spoke on the need of focused mind not only for the students but for all in order to create an ideal society, free from hypocrisy and filled with love for themselves, others around, their society, and country.

The winners of Patriotic and Folk songs, both juniors and seniors presented their songs on the stage.There was a short speech delivered byMaster Ananthasree dressed as Swamiji, UKG student of Sandeepani Sishuvihar. Prizes were given away by the Chief Guest. The Rolling Trophy for the best Patriotic Group Song went to Amrita Vidyalayam, Kodungallur whereas the Trophy for Folk song went to Shantiniketan International School, Kodungallur, for the second time.

A special prize was given to Sri Udayan, Kendra Karyakarta for the essay he wrote on Swami Vivekananda and his love for India.

There was a sumptuous meal sponsored by Sri Murli and his wife Rema, of Irinjalakuda, a very close well-wisher, were the sponsorers of the meals.

BALA-SAMARPAN

                      SWADHYAYA EXAMINATION AT SCHOOLS 
                                            ON THE OCCASION OF  
BHAGINI  NIVEDITA 150TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

              

In connection with Bhagini Nivedita 150th Birth Anniversary,  a swadhaya examination was conducted in Malayalam based on the book on Bhagini Nivedita. Around 300 students from 6 schools registered. 280 students wrote the examination which was held in their own schools on 7th November. Out of the total of 280, 55 students who had scored average marks, were invited to Anandadham on 14th November, for an inter-school quiz competition on life and messages of Swami Vivekananda and Bhagini Nivedita.  

On the morning of 14th November, Children's  Day, two programmes were simultaneously conducted on the campus, one of the successful students of Swadhya competition and the other of Shishuvihar tiny tots. Lighting of the lamp was done by Little Aradhya of LKG dressed as Bhagini Nivedita and little Achut dressed as Chacha Nehru. Prayer was chanted by the UKG tiny tots. The tiny tots and their parents and teachers went for campus cleaning ('Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan'), a one hour programme on 14th November, every year which they had taken up from last year onwards.
The other group of older children coming from different schools got the opportunity to listen to the talk by Mananeeya Didi on Bhagini Nivedita's life and message and why they should know about this great personality who had given her all for the sake of the Indian masses. The students also got an opportunity to listen to the Chief Guest for the occasion, none other than India's  first female  Merchant Navy Captain Radhika Menon, and who had received the  Exceptional Bravery award by International Maritime Organisation(IMO). All potential is within us, the need of the hour is to have the confidence in one's own self and determination to keep going till the end and to be able to practically apply the knowledge acquired in any field in life, was what the Captain advised the students.Captain Radhika gave away the prizes and certificates to the successful students of the swadhya examination.
The second part of the programme was the inter-school quiz on Swamiji and Bhagini Nivedita.The students of Shantiniketan International school received the trophy for best performance in the quiz. All the students had a sumptuous lunch after the programme concluded.

STHANIK KARYAKARTA PRAKSHISHAN SHIBIR



(Kodungallur from 30.09 2017 to 2.10 2017)

KPS at the Sthanik level started at 3 p.m. on 30.09.2017 with the registration of the shibirarthis. 26 of them registered out of whom, 7 karyakartas were from Thiruvananthapuram, 1 from Aripalam, 6 from Edavilangu, 2 from Thrissur, and 10 were from Kodungallur . 10 members were present in the organizing team.  Mananeeya Lakshmi Didi addressed the Karyakartas after lighting the lamp.  Su.Radha Didi, Prant Sanghatak of Dakshin Prant talked to the shibirarthis on the objective of KPS. There was groupwise Ice breaking so that most of them could feel at home. Bhajans, supper and in the end a powerpoint presentation on Vivekananda Kendra and its activities- Kendra Parichay was beautifully explained by Ma.Sudhakarji.
The second day started with wake up at 4.30a.m. Morning prayer at 5.15 a.m, followed by yoga, pranayama, shramanubhav, sessions by Ma.Lakshmi Didi, and Su. Radha Didi, group discussion,  practice of chantings and songs, games and agnyas, breaks for breakfast, lunch, tea, and supper. A number of video clippings on the inspiring lives of well-known young achievers and discussions based on the clippings, was the last item of the day before they went to bed.
On the third day, usual routine was followed up to lunchtime. After lunch preparation for the concluding session was kept to get maximum participation from the shibirarthis. Concluding session was from 3 pm to 4 pm. In her concluding address Ma.Didi talked on the qualities needed for a
 karyakarta.In revealing their shibir experience many of them felt that they should put more effort on practicing what the have learned in the Shibir, so as to gain confidence at the same time experience the thrill of 'seva'.  Ahuti satra was arranged so that all the Karyakartas could take the resolve for their future work and offer it at the feet of the Holy Trio.

Doll making introduced in Samskarvarga



   6th AUGUST 2016 (SUNDAY)

Among the regular activities of Vivekananda Kendra Vedic Vision Foundation, Samskar Varga is one. Every Sunday morning from 9.30 to 11.30 a m, children gather at Anandadham to take part in Samskarvarga. Su Gayatri  Didi from Bangalore was on a fortnights visit at this centre. Children were lucky to have her teach them doll-making out of plastic spoons.

SCIENCE 7 MATHS WORKSHOP AT VKV KALLUBALU

  SCIENCE & MATHS WORKSHOP CONDUCTED AT VKV KALLUBALU

Four  Vidyarthi karyakartas Kum. Drishya, Kum. Anushree, Sri Sheshadri, and Sri Karthikeyan accompanied by Su Sutapa from VKVVF  Kodungallur center and guided by Adarineeya Lalita Didi of Thiruvananthapuram branch center were invited to conduct Science and Mathematics workshop for the students of U.P.section of classes VI and VII and H.S.section up to class X. For the former section it was PDC and the senior section had Science and maths workshop. Su Lalitha Didi was invited to guide all the three activities, the third being Primary school teachers orientation                                                                                        camp. 
The camps started from 22nd May and concluded on 26th.The PDC was conducted from  9.30a.m  to 3.30 p.m daily, Science and Maths workshop was from 10 a.m to 12.30 noon and the teachers camp was kept from 2 pm to 4 pm.  
It was an unforgettable experience for the student resource persons! The student karyakartas were given the responsibilities of conducting games and teaching Science/Maths working models for the PDC students during the afternoon sessions. For the senior students, they demonstrated explaining the concept of each of the  Science and Mathematics models they had brought with them and then helped the students make their own in groups.
On the last days, both the junior and senior groups put up a beautiful exhibition.  A model exhibition was also put up by the student karyakartas.Prizes were announced for the best among the junior and senior groups to boost them further.
